Description

After the quick and dirty first attempt at stacking and processing, I wanted to redo the process to get rid of the green colour cast and uneven brightness and see if I could pull some more detail out of the data.

It’s the same 22 1 minute exposures at 1600 ISO using the FujiFilm X-A3 and Samyang 85mm F1.8 shot wide open. The camera and lens have impressed me even more at how much they were able to capture in such a short time and the overall sharpness of the image. Barnard’s Loop now looks the way it should, and the nebulously linking the main nebulae in Orion is a lot clearer.

Processing in APP was the same apart from using the non-adaptive setting for star colour calibration. The biggest difference came from being more subtle in StarTools to output an image for final adjustments in PhotoShop that had much less contrast than last time. There are still some aspects that could be better such as uneven colour casts, but I suspect that's hard to avoid when enhancing an image so much to pull out very faint detail; especially since I don't really know what I'm doing!
